Samatha Buddhist Meditation in Durham

The Durham group meets on Mondays at 7.30pm to around 9.00pm
(with breaks over Christmas and Easter periods and continuing to the end of June). In 2007-08, we start on October 8th.

We now meet in the J. Morgan Hall, in the Durham Community Association building, which is called  Shakespeare Hall (next to Thompsons, and opposite the Australian pub), on North Road.  North Road is the road with the bus station at one end. You can park on the road outsidethe bus station or in the nearby Milburngate shopping centre car park (which closes at 10 pm).

Each class consists of a talk, and perhaps a discussion, then a guided meditation, which teaches step by step way of developing greater calm, inner strength and awareness through giving attention to the breath. No previous experience in meditation is needed. After the first week, there is the opportunity for one to one discussion with the teacher on the application of the method.

There is another class nearby in Sunderland, which meets on Thursdays at 5pm
