Beginners Classes
There are currently four beginners Samatha meditation classes in the London area:
1 - Central London, at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Russell Square, on Wednesday evenings,
2 - Chelsea on Thursday evenings (new class),
3 - Richmond on Thursday evenings,
4 - Uxbridge on Thursday evenings,

The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS)
The SOAS Centre for Buddhist Studies hosts a weekly meditation class during university term time.
Classes are currently Suspended for the Summer break, and will resume in the Autumn. More details will be posted here when available.
Teaching is free, and all are welcome. If you wish, bring a cushion to sit on. Contact Stefania (Email: stefaniamenin@hotmail.com) for further information.
SOAS
SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studies), is part of the University of London. The nearest tube is Russell Square.

Samatha Meditation in Chelsea
Classes are on Thursdays at 7.30pm and run weekly at:
The Vestry at Christshurch, Chelsea.
Entrance on Cavesham Street (click here for streetmap link).
Last class before the summer break is on 16th July, and classes will begin again in September (check here for date nearer the time).
It is close to the King's Road and easily reached by foot (10 mins) or bus from Sloane Square tube station or from South Kensington (15 mins) or by bus from Victoria (try 11 or 211).
Instruction in meditation will be given on a group and individual basis. No previous experience is necessary. All welcome.
The teaching is given for free. Donations are welcomed to cover the cost of room hire etc.

Samatha Meditation in Richmond
The teaching is available to all. No previous experience of meditation is required - beginners are welcome. Please feel free to join at any time.
For beginners, there is an talk each week from 7.30pm to 8pm when you will be introduced to the practice.
Once you have done the practice at home for a week, you can join the main meeting that starts later on in the evening. During this meeting, there is a group practice, discussion and an opportunity to discuss your practice one-to-one with the teacher. If you are coming to this meeting, please bring a cushion.
There is no charge for teaching, but we welcome donations to cover the cost of the room hire.
We meet every Thursday evening except on Thursday 4 June (when the venue is being used as a polling station for the elections). The location is:

Richmond Upon Thames,
Surrey, TW10 6SN.
The Cambrian Centre is on the 371 bus route to/from the Richmond tube/rail station on Kew Road. It is a ten minute walk from the centre of Richmond. There is a small car park at the Centre, otherwise parking can be found on surrounding roads.
