The Manchester Centre for Buddhist Meditation

The Samatha Trust

The Samatha Trust is a registered charity whose principle aim is to support the teaching of Samatha meditation. It was founded in 1973 by a group of people who had been introduced to Samatha meditation by Nai Boonman, a Thai meditation teacher.

The Manchester Centre is one of many groups around the country who are supported by the Samatha Trust.

In 1987 the Trust bought Greenstreete farm, a large house in mid-Wales, to provide a national centre where people can go for weekends or longer periods of meditation practice. The farmhouse and meditation hall are surrounded by 88 acres of hills, woods and streams providing a varied and peaceful setting for meditation and physical work linked to the practice.
